AFR Battlefield Concepts

For Adventures in Forgotten Realms, the Arena art team decided on a dragon's lair setting for the battlefield playmat release. This was a whole team collaborative effort, with the original drawing provided by our partner artists, thumbnails/revisions by myself, and additional paintover and 3D work by art team members going into the final product. My primary contribution was enhancing the storytelling in the scene with some dragon-inspired details such as the relief design on the floor, claw and scorch marks, and of course the red dragon lurking in the corner. There are a few Easter egg details, such as certain weapons hiding in the stash.
In game, the red dragon became an animated character that reacts to gameplay events!
